This summer the Loup City Theatrical Association is proud to present the premier production of

HEY RUBE! Riot on the Great Plains

written by

Anne M. Hartung

The play Hey Rube! Riot on the Great Plains is a drama depicting an important part of Nebraska history. It is based on actual events associated with what is known as the Loup City Riot that occurred on Flag Day, June 14, 1934. Radical Elements of the Farm Holiday Movement led by Mother Bloor clashed with Sheriff’s deputies and local citizens over attempts to improve the working conditions at the Ravenna Creamery Plant in Loup City. The play presents these depression era struggles of the working class and the concerns of the townspeople toward outsiders trying to bring about change.
